FSD not impacted by PowerSchool cybersecurity incident

Foothills School Division is aware of the recent PowerSchool data security breach that has impacted the student information systems (SIS) for school boards within Alberta and across the country. 

We can confirm that FSD does not utilize PowerSchool for its student information system. Foothills School Division does employ platforms under the PowerSchool umbrella for other operational applications, and we have been affirmed by PowerSchool that this data was not affected by the security incident. 

Foothills School Division reviews and assesses its data security on a continual basis for all applications and will closely monitor this incident to learn and improve its current systems. 

The Division commits to notifying its stakeholders should this circumstance change.
