Transportation Fees
Bus Passes
Transportation registrations are annual. All bus riders must be registered with an approved application and any applicable fees for service must be paid before the student is assigned to the bus. Applications for current students will be considered until June 19, 2026. Late applications may be processed in the new school year, resulting in potential delay in service.
Bus service is determined from the student's primary residence (as set out in the Education Act (4.1)). This address must match the student's address registered with the school. If a student requires transportation to an additional address (secondary residence that is on the student file), the family may inquire about Dual Bussing.

Registration Overview
- Register for Transportation via Edsembli Family Portal
- FSD Transportation Services registers the student and applies the Transportation Fee to each student account
- Payment of Fees via Edsembli Family Portal to complete the application**
- Student application is processed by FSD Transportation Services
- Follow up from FSD Transportation Services regarding status of application
- When approved, student is accounted for in bus service route planning.
**Note: To support a swift application process, the Transportation Fee has been applied to all current FSD bus riders who are expected to be returning in the Fall.
- If there is a payment of the Transportation Fee without an application, the student will not be assigned to a bus route.
- If you are not using FSD Transportation Services for the 2026-2027 school year, and the fee was applied to your account, it will be removed in October.
- Families of 3 or more bus riders ($250 max fee) will see an adjustment of fees by October.
Tips:
- The FSD Student Number is listed below the ASN.
- To register for Transportation Services, select the "Register New Student" button under the student profile card.
New FSD Bus Riders
If you are new to FSD, and have not yet registered with your school, please begin at Step 1.
If you are applying for a registered FSD student, but have not previously registered for Transportation Services or have transitioned schools, please go to Step 2.
- Register with your school:
- Parents/guardians must first register their child with the school by following the process at the FSD website:
https://foothillsschooldivision.ca/register-a-student - After the school registration is accepted and your Edsembli Family Portal account is activated, you may proceed with registering for FSD Transportation Services.

- Log into your Edsembli Family Portal and take note of your child's FSD Student Number (listed below profile picture on Edsembli): https://sis.edsembli.com/WebAdmin/AB/FSD/UI/Account/SignIn
- Under the student profile cards, select "Register a New Student"
- Select: Transportation Services from the dropdown menu of schools
- Complete the form:
- Note: School and transportation addresses must match.
- Select the school your child will attend next year
- Submit
- Repeat application for each student requiring bus service with FSD Transportation Services.

Returning FSD Bus Riders
Before you begin, you will need your child’s FSD Student Number (listed below profile picture on Edsembli)
- Parents/guardians log into your Edsembli Family Portal: https://sis.edsembli.com/WebAdmin/AB/FSD/UI/Account/SignIn
- Select the student profile for Transportation Services (if you do not see a student profile for Transportation Services, follow the registration steps above for First Time FSD Bus Riders as you first need to be register with Transportation)
- Go to: Student Forms
- Select: Transportation Application Renewal to apply for the next school year.
- Complete the form:
- You will be asked if your child’s physical address has changed.
- If No, your child’s current information will be pre-populated.
- If yes, you may update your physical address.
- School and transportation addresses must match.
- Select the school your child will attend next year
- Submit
- You will be asked if your child’s physical address has changed.
- Repeat application for each student requiring bus service with Transportation Services.
Next Steps
- Allow our team a few days to review your child’s Transportation Services application.
- A fee will be added to the student account under “Transportation Services”
- Fees must be paid before the application is processed.
- If services cannot be provided or application is revoked by the family (ineligible or other reasoning), a refund of fees will be applied by November. The collection of fees at time of application confirms commitment to bus services.
- Transportation Services will inform parents/guardians of the status of the application (Approved, Waitlisted, Denied).
- Approved: Child assigned to bus route(s)
- Waitlisted: Will be determined by October (typical for students who are not eligible / out of bounds / under distance)
- Denied: Service cannot be provided
- Bus Schedules (see Bus Passes):
- In-town routes will be posted on the FSD website Bus Route Status page prior to school start.
- Rural route families will be contacted directly by the bus driver in late August.
Fees
Fees are in accordance with FSD Administrative Procedure 506- School Fees.
Payment of fees completes your application for FSD Transportation bus service. Fees must be paid before the application is processed.
Payment of fees are accepted online through your Edsembli Family Portal:
- $100 per student per school year (10 months x $10)
- Maximum $250 per family household
- Upon application, a $100 fee is applied to each student.
- For fees, a family of four bus riders would make a payment as:
- Student A: $100
- Student B: $100
- Student C: $ 50 Adjust payment to $50
- Student D: $ 0
- Fees will appear under each student's account under the “FSD Transportation Services” school.
- If services cannot be provided or application is revoked by the family (ineligible or other reasoning), a refund of fees will be applied by October.
- Fee adjustments for families with 3 or more bus riders will see an adjustment on their account by October.

Making a Payment in Edsembli
Management of your child’s information for Transportation Services is through your Edsembli Family Portal (see guide):
- Select your student card for Transportation
- Select: Pay Fees beside the student’s name
- Select Transportation Fee
- Click Make Payment (bottom right)
- Enter your payment details and complete checkout
If online payment not possible, please contact FSDTransportation@fsd38.ab.ca
Credit/Debit payments cannot be made at the school.
Cancellation of Service
Please complete this form to cancel transportation services Cancel Service Form.
Change of Address
Please update the address at the school via Edsembli.
